We believe that education empowers, and that having access to financial practices is key to building a better life.
Engaging in conversation and developing opportunities for education reinforces social inclusion and enhances economic growth especially those who are most vulnerable.

Our Projects
Flagship Project: The CDK Programme
The Children’s Development Khazana programme, developed by Butterflies NGO, has been supported by the Khazana Foundation to help establish and run initiatives in Hemja, Nepal, as well as in Mumbai and Delhi, India. This programme aims to assist street children in managing their livelihoods by providing them with a robust system to handle their money. While these children often earn very little, the Khazana Foundation empowers them to take control of their financial situations.
Through the programme, the children can manage their finances at various ‘bank’ branches, where they serve as bookkeepers and decide on financial advances. Acknowledging that these children are among the most vulnerable in society, the training they receive includes not only financial skills but also social skills development and enhancement of self-identity. They learn to prioritize, plan, communicate effectively, and understand their rights, all of which are essential for their empowerment and future success.
Fundamentals of Financial Literacy Toolkit
-
Money Matters
In collaboration with MobileSchool.org, the Khazana Foundation has developed a discussion board to engage with children.
On the Money Matters overview poster, one can find over 50 situations that are directly or indirectly linked to financial literacy.
Built on the five essential pillars -earn, spend, save, borrow, and invest- children will gain knowledge and have more support in making informed decisions as they can recognize how money plays a role in their day-to-day lives.
The content can be downloaded for free.
-
Payday Pioneers
In collaboration with MobileSchool.org, the Khazana Foundation has developed a financial literacy game board.
The Payday Pioneers board game is closely linked to the Money Matters poster, and allows players to experience the fundamental pillars of financial literacy in practice during an enjoyable board game.
The board game follows the structure of one month, on the left-hand side of the panel. On the right-hand side of the panel, players can find the legend of the board game, a space to keep money in the savings account, and icons to keep track of the purchases players made during the board game.
The content can be downloaded for free.
-
Train the Trainer
In collaboration with MobileSchool.org, the Khazana Foundation has developed a digital youth worker training programme.
The programme aims to equip youth workers with the skills to engage a discussion on the basics of finance with children. Covering the fundamental pillars of earning, spending, saving, investing, and protecting, the programme is a brief introduction to the importance of financial literacy.
Led by experienced trainers from StreetSmart and the Khazana Foundation, this programme provides both inspiration and practical tools for incorporating financial literacy into youth work interventions.
The training can be completed for free.
Other Projects
-
Entrepreneurial Trainings
By teaching how to write a business plan, principles of accountancy, problem identification, and problem-solving, the Khazana Foundation empowers children to take control of their economic situation and their personal development. By attending these courses, children will learn how to identify opportunities, solve problems, find collaboration, dare to innovate, and trust their creativity!
The final objective of the course is to give children a solid foundation to find a job or create their own business.
-
Financial Skills Trainings
We believe financial skills are of enormous importance to marginalized children. Bookkeeping courses are one of the basic skills that need to be taught to run a business successfully.
Providing bookkeeping knowledge such as recording, organizing, reporting, and interpreting financial transactions will empower children to manage their future savings.
-
Social Skills Trainings
We organised life skill workshops to provide children with important tools for development. Life skills are the building blocks that allow children to apply the knowledge they acquire as part of the financial literacy programme to real-world situations. The life skills training performed is closely aligned with the context in which these children live and grow.
Implementing the skills they have learned, children can make structural changes both in their personal lives and in their communities.
-
Advanced Khazana Programme
The Khazana Foundation will help a student who needs support for a project, education or course which is related to the principles of financial inclusion as well as the guiding principles of Khazana Foundation. Students will be asked to submit a request for support, which will be evaluated by the Khazana Foundation board.

Business Case Competition
At Khazana Foundation, we believe in the power of innovative thinking to drive positive change. Our Business Case Competition empowers youth from underprivileged areas by offering them the chance to secure funding for their entrepreneurial projects.
Participants engage in in-depth research and analysis to understand the complexities of their entrepreneurial project. Based on their findings, they create comprehensive business plans that include comprehensive business plans with a vision, financial projections, and implementation roadmaps. These solutions are then presented to the Khazana Foundation. The winning project is awarded a one-off sum.
